Summer Camp Descriptions

Anime Gurls Film Camp

Ages 8 & up

Fee: $135

Action heroes aren’t all boys, you know. This camp is for anime loving, adventure seeking, crime busting girls. You’ll create your own anime character, design her costume and make-up and become her in an action packed original film. Is the world ready for Anime Gurls? We think so, definitely so. 

 

Builder Kids, Let’s Build a House

Fee: $90

Ages 5 - 7Yes, you read that right. We are going to actually build a (small) house in the studio. We’ll drill, hammer, screw, shingle and paint a 6’x6’ house. Everyone gets a hard hat. Everyone has a toolbelt. Will this involve measuring and math? You bet. Will the kids realize this? Not at all.

 

Builder Kids, The Bigger House

Fee: $110

Ages 8 - 10

We’ve had such fun with our 5-7 builders in the past that we decided to add an addition to our Builder Kids camp. Our 8-10 year olds will build a larger house, wire it for lights and get paid ($1) for building it. Our builders in this camp punch a time clock, stop working when the whistle sounds and learn that hard work has its rewards. This is the only camp we offer that is not digital, and one of our favorites. 

 

Claymation

Ages 8 & up

Fee: $135

Did you like The Nightmare Before Christmas? Shawn the Sheep? Box Trolls? Then it’s time for you to learn how to make a stop motion animation of your own. We’ll show you how to make the inanimate world come to life as clay, paper, even bottle tops get up and move across the landscape you create. You add the sound and credits. When you’re done, we’ll upload them to the studio’s website for the world to see. This is a wonderful class for those who like to sculpt, make art and want to learn filmmaking.

 

Digital Arts

Ages 8 & up

Fee: $135

Can’t decide which BOL camp suits you best? Then try Digital Arts. This camp is our digital smorgasbord. Every day has a different challenge. We’ll cover claymation, green screen, film, digital books and robotics. Sculpt, build, film, program and hang with your tribe. Maybe one of these processes will be your future career. Give them all a taste in Digital Arts.

 

Lego Maniacs

Ages 8 & up

fee; $135

Ready, set, build! (And film and build some more.) We’ll build with Legos®, make films with Legos® and even invent an extra terrestrial world  with Legos®. All Legos, all the time.

Lego Animation, The BIG Film

Ages 8 & up

Fee: $135

This is our ever popular Lego Maniacs camp with a twist. This time, we’re all working on the same film. We’ll very possibly create the best Lego® movie ever, in the history of the world. In any case, we’ll definitely have the most fun making it. The class will function like a true animation studio. We’ll have teams building, filming, adding sound and titles. In the end, we’ll have a dramatic, comic, action packed Lego® adventure ready to share and view online.

 

MeTube: Special FX

Ares 9 & up

Fee: $135

Our popular MeTube camp is back with a twist. This summer, we’re focusing on making you into a YouTube special effects expert. The camp will explore the special effects of your favorite movies. You’ll learn the magic behind the scenes and make a video that teaches the process to others. And when it’s done? Hello YouTube. The invisibility cloak? Easy. Laser beam eyes? Got that covered. Exploding meteors from space. We’ll have it for you in an hour. It’s time to sign up for a special effects adventure. Your public awaits.

Robotics

Ages 8 - 14

Fee: $135

Build and program with LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 Robots! This camp teaches students to program basic motor movements and each of the EV3 sensors: sonar, sound, touch, gyro, and color. Master the robot universe. Oh, and Friday is battle bot day. Don’t miss it.

 

Robotics Jr.

Ages 5 - 7

Fee: $75

This is a great introduction to robotics for the younger crowd. Learn to build your robot and teach it to move, speak, feel and wreak havoc on a balloon. Along the way, students in this hands-on class will get an introduction to programming, mechanics and logic. And, students will work in teams so there’s a little of that good old social skills development as well. What’s not to like?

 

Teen Special FX

Ages 13+

Fee: $90

This is designed for young filmmakers who want to learn how to create special effects using Adobe Premiere. Students will be introduced to chroma keying, (green screening), composition, key framing and more. Learn effects like how to grow, shrink, disappear,  and fly on screen. No advanced knowledge of Premiere is needed for this class.

The Princess Caper: Powerful in Pink Film Camp 

Ages 5 - 7

Fee: $90

Getting your pink and purple, sparkly dream on doesn’t mean you can’t be a powerful save-the-day heroine. You can and will in this film camp. You’ll create your own princess heroine and solve the mystery (or crime, we’ll decide that on day 1). Along the way, you’ll be introduced to the filmmaking process. Pretty, sparkly, taffeta encrusted girls unite! It’s not just the guys who get to do this stuff.
